Movie review: The Nice Guys

The Nice Guys

Shane Black (2016)

I didn’t see The Nice Guys in the theater when it came out. I was aware of it, but for some reason I didn’t make the link with another Shane Black movie that I really like (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). I really missed out.

Los Angeles, 1977. Muscle-for-hire Jackson Healy crosses paths with barely-functioning private investigator Holland March, looking for a supposedly dead porn-star, both unknowingly stepping in a dangerous conspiracy.

The Bad: Couldn’t say much here, I think the movie succeeds in everything it tries

The Good: Formidable Crowe-Gosling duo, with great help from young Angourie Rice. Such a fun ride following them around L.A. in the 70’s, there is a right balance between investigation, comedy, character moments and action

My opinion: A really fun noir-action-comedy, has that distinct Shane Black flair that works so well for the genre.
